As an experience driven guide service, NW Alpine Guides believes in offering personal attention to each and every one of our customers. Year after year many of our clients return as friends to share in our passion for the mountains.

“Dennis was an outstanding guide. He was extremely approachable with questions and made it a point to talk to all the clients and get to know us. He was very knowledgeable about the area and climb and I felt comfortable and safe during the trip. I appreciate that he made his clients also feel like friends.” Sabrina M

“Thanks again for being such a great guide and making the climb such a positive experience!” Nina G

The Northwestern United States offers an abundance of climbing opportunities. Spectacular guided mountain climbs can be found on the volcanoes of the Pacific Northwest, including Mt. Rainier, one of the most popular climbs. In addition to Mount Rainier, Mount Baker the second largest glaciated peak in the lower 48 states offers an excellent experience for those seeking to further their skills in the mountains. Mount Shuksan, Eldorado Peak, Sahale Peak as well as Forbidden Peak all located in North Cascades National Park, known as the “American Alps” offer a mix of glaciated terrain and alpine rock climbing in a breathtaking landscape. Across the Puget Sound, Mount Olympus located within Olympic National Park provides a true wilderness experience through the Hoh Rain Forest to the Blue Glacier and its rocky West Peak summit.

Our Founder

Dennis Broadwell grew up on the south shore of Long Island far away from any mountain top. As a teenager he discovered skiing in the Catskill mountains and hiked his first peaks in the Adirondack’s of New York. He quickly became an ADK 46er by his early twenties. He began guiding his friends up peaks like Mount Washington in New Hampshire’s White Mountains making numerous winter ascents. After graduating from college, he traveled extensively across America and overseas while continuing to purse rock, ice and mountain climbing. In 1997, the vision of Mountain Gurus was conceived, but it would not be until 2008 the company was incorporated through the encouragement of his dear friend Kili Sherpa. Dennis’ passion for mountains and exploration has led him to climb and travel all over the world. He believes that pursuing dreams through human powered achievement combined with shared experience among a community of fellow adventurers is an incredibly rewarding way to live and experience life.

“Challenging yourself while exploring your world is truly one of life’s greatest experiences”

Today, Mountain Gurus philosophy is to guide, instruct, and train our climbers while pursuing shared goals together, pushing ourselves against gravity whether it be through climbing, trekking, skiing, adventure travel, or simply experiencing nature and foreign cultures.
